Bob Morgenstern
Named 2012
Peter W. Walsh Award Winner!

Bob Morgenstern

As many of my MSA Family knows, I am not one for awards, accolades and special recognition for doing what I feel is one’s obligation to their chosen profession. I believe we, as experienced Public Works Managers, owe others in our field the gift of our knowledge and experiences so that they can learn and advance and prosper in this most wonderful vocation. However, I must say that I never felt as overwhelmed as I did when I was surprised by hearing my name called as this year’s Peter Walsh recipient! When you consider the caliber of all the other nominees: Dave Bender; Doug Blackstock; Dave Thompson, and; Lory Warren, I am truly humbled. These leaders represent the very heart and soul of this organization, they are movers, shakers, leaders and they are tomorrow’s Peter Walsh recipients, just to be in the presence is an honor!

I do wish to thank the Executive Board and all my supporters on the Board, for bestowing this great honor on me. But who I really want to thank are the Board members from the Central Coast and Greater Ventura Area Chapters! After all, it is on the Chapter level that we perform on an almost daily schedule. It is on the Chapter level that we, as individuals, have the opportunity to provide to our membership all that the MSA stands for: training; networking; educational opportunities; state of the art equipment updates; regulatory changes; trusted vendor associations, etc. It takes hard work and dedication to continually provide these opportunities and most all of it comes from the individual Chapter Boards. Therefore, having the support, respect, belief and trust of both the Central Coast and Greater Ventura Area Chapter Boards for four years of nominations gives me a sense of pride that goes far beyond anything I could explain. I love these people and I am proud and honored to work with them to better our Chapters and our association as a whole.

It is my goal to represent myself as a worthy recipient, of this most prestigious award, throughout this coming year! I look forward to many more years of service to my Chapters and to the Association, it is my passion!

P.S.   For those in attendance they got to witness my abusing the platform of receiving the Peter Walsh Award as an opportunity to propose to my beautiful girlfriend Patty Brown. Patty and I have been together for almost two years and I felt there was no better place to propose than in front of my MSA Family. Thank you all, who were there, for enduring my emotional outbreak and for all your well wishes!
