The incumbent oversees, directs,and participates in the activities of maintenance and repair for the City's public works, including short- and long-term capital improvement planning and development and the administration of funds for projects, expansions, and operations. This class provides assistance to the Public Works Director in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities. The incumbent has overall management responsibility for all City-wide public works and engineering programs, functions, and activities, and for developing, implementing, and interpreting publicpolicy
Qualifications: Equivalent to an Associate's degree, with coursework in construction management, engineering,forestry, or a relatedPublic Works field five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the construction, maintenance, and repairof municipal Public Works facilities or services, including two (2) years management and/or supervisory experience.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California drivers license. Possession of a certificate in a relevant PublicWorks area is desirable, including but not limitedto an Arborist certificate issuedby the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA),a Playground SafetyInstructor Certificate issuedby a reputable organization such as the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) or International Playground Safety Institute(IPSI) .
